Thee guest speaker for the program is the Rev. Willie Brisco. Rev. Brisco serves as Associate Minister of the New Covenant Baptist Church and President of Milwaukee Inner-city Congregations Allied for Hope (MICAH). His ministry focuses on deterring young people from entering the criminal justice system and on helping those who have been incarcerated to successfully rejoin society. Rev. Brisco was called to the ministry after a 25-year career in law enforcement and corrections, having retired in 2009 as the Deputy Superintendent of theMilwaukee County House of Correction. He is a frequently serves as a guest speaker and as a spokesperson on current issues in the Milwaukee media.
The Seeds of Justice Award will be presented to Deacon Tom Skemp, La Crosse County Jail Chaplain.
Music will feature Prairie Smoke a popular five-member band that combines the influences of American folk and the Celtic traditions of Scottish and Irish aires, jigs and reels. Come enjoy this quintet play the hammered and mountain dulcimer, fiddle, banjo, bass, guitar and mandolin. Band members include Erin Hussey, Betsy Knowles, Rita Koch-Thometz, Jon Stuttgen, and Tom Walter.
The evening program will also feature a second musical treat. During dinner Sr. Malinda Gerke will fill the fellowship hall with music from the rich soothing vibrations of her harp.
