“The White Crow” will be performed Saturday, April 7, at 7:30 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship

The Alternative Truth Project’s reading of “The White Crow (Eichmann in Jerusalem)” by Donald Freed, will be performed on Saturday, April 7, at 7:30 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, 401 West Ave. S., in La Crosse. The reading is free of charge and open to the public.

Following the horrors of Hitler’s Germany, Nazi Hunters went to the ends of the earth to bring justice to the millions of Holocaust victims. For years they hunted down the perpetrators, including Adolph Eichmann, architect of the deportation of Jews to concentration camps. Captured in South America, he was brought to Israel for trial in 1960.

“The White Crow” examines his pretrial interrogation by Dr. Lillian Baum (played by Diane Breeser), a German-Jew who comes face to face with Eichmann (played by Dan Schneider), a seemingly normal man who got caught up in the madness of Hitler’s “Final Solution.” Or are appearances deceiving?

According to the playwright, “This dramatization of the first interrogation session of Eichmann in Jerusalem is based on combined sources and my own new translation of the German record but, in the main, it is license – poetic and philosophical – written under the sign of Dostoevsky.”
