Today is November 18, 2018; the
CSOA is entering its 9th season of support for SHARE THE BOUNTY, a program of Compassionate Community Faith Alliance (CCFA). We collect and share nature’s marvelous produce at the Farmer’s Market in Onalaska, alternating Sundays with about 10 other religious congregations. We are told that our yearly CSOA crew is always attentive, friendly and appreciated.
SHARE THE BOUNTY’S mission is:
* To provide fresh fruits and vegetables for families in our community
* To support local growers and home gardeners
* To promote locally grown food
You can help by buying extra produce and donating those items to the SHARE THE BOUNTY collection site at Onalaska’s Farmers Market on Sundays form 8 am – 1 pm.
All of the produce will be taken to the Hunger Task Force which provides food to over 74 meal sites and pantries in out area. The sites include the Salvation Army and WAFER. Each year we collect about 28,000 pounds of produce–over 200,000 pounds since 2010!
How to enjoy some of the produce you are less familiar with? Looking for new recipes? Free demonstrations for preparing fresh garden product are presented by local cooking enthusiasts and gardeners. Our next “Cooking Conversation” will be July 9 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church from 10:30 – 11:30 am. Follow this link for more details.
